To my suprise i just got an email offer of $6200 from a respected member of the seo/domaining community.

Why would someone want to pay $6200 for a new site like this with little content and in such an already overcrowded seo blog/news market?

I never thought this site would ever really take off and just threw it up like the dozens of sites i throw up daily.

To get an offer to sell it so early shocked me to say the least because its the last thing i was thinking about.
This puts me in a very tricky situation because there was some very strange plans for this site and they were very far from actually selling the site.

The site has picked up a few backlinks and even a pr7 but it still seems strange.

What would you do?

Hang on to this site Earl.

If it is worth that much now, how much is it worth in a year? Two?

Besides, it already is a pretty neat place to read.

  3. A PR7? Boy, you MUST really be drunk, LOL.

Not that I wouldn’t love to see you get a PR7 here, and that fast, too. But all the tools I’ve checked so far give Threadwatcher a mere PR0.

  4. Fant, I think he meant that TW’er picked up a backlink from a PR7.

  5. Ah ok, that makes a lot more sense then, sorry.

In any case it’s kind of a funny offer: I mean, why $6,200 and not $6,500 or $6,000? Not your standard procedure in serious business, in my experience.

  6. I’m guessing the the “respected member of the seo/domaining community” is from UK or made the offer in sterling, $6,200 is pretty close to £3000.

  7. 6,200.00 USD

    =

    3,073.86 GBP
United States Dollars United Kingdom Pounds
    1 USD = 0.495784 GBP 1 GBP = 2.01701 USD

    Maricon you are correct ;)

  8. Hm, he wouldn’t happen to have be involved in Threadwatch before? (Yeah, you probably don’t want to tell which is fine - but it’s exactly the stuff runors are made of, heh.)

  9. “I never thought this site would ever really take off and just threw it up like the dozens of sites i throw up daily.”

We think loads of you as well :p

Copy all the code / configuration, set up on threadwatching.com and sell.

Could it have been to steal peoples forum passwords? I know for a fact that a lot of people use the same password for every forum they use.
